Wanderlust Visions 2025 winners revealed

More than 20,000 of you voted, and now the results are in…

Wanderlust Visions (formerly our Travel Photo of the Year competition) is the UK’s most prestigious and longest running travel photography competition, having first launched in 1997. This year, we received over 5,000 entries (you can view the full shortlist here), including video for the first time, across five different categories.

With over 20,000 votes, we’re delighted to announce the overall winners and the winners of each category. A big thank you to this year’s sponsors, Alamy and Go Türkiye.

Landscape & Overall Winner: Baobab Alley by John Seager

John Seager, who works as an Environmental Consultant, said, “I took this image at a site known as the Allée des Baobabs (Alley of the Baobabs) in Madagascar. The towering trees alongside the road are truly impressive. Waiting for the incredible light of the setting African sun, I positioned my drone to capture this unforgettable scene”.

Culture winner:   Mending the Sea by Matt Sievers

Project manager Matt Sievers of his shot, “Fishing nets in Vietnam are often vibrant and colourful. Here, a woman in Bac Lieu mends blue nets that resemble the breaking waves of an ocean, as though she is mending the sea itself.”

People winner: I See You by Lucy Sager

Consultant Lucy Sager said, “This image captures a young boy patiently waiting with his hawk while his uncle steps outside their home in Mongolia. The moment reflects a stillness and connection amid daily life in a traditional setting.”

Türkiye winner: Cappadocia by Mark Levitin

Travel photographer Mark Levitin said, “It’s hard to describe the landscapes of Cappadocia. It’s Cappadocia, I say – if you don’t know what I mean, just go there and see it. This image captures the unique and otherworldly scenery from the window of a ruined rock-hewn church.”

Wildlife winner: Dancing Red-crowned Cranes by Ray Hems

Retiree Ray Hems said, “The red-crowned cranes are an iconic, protected Japanese species that live in Kushiro Shitsugen National Park in East Hokkaido. They are well known for their spectacular courting displays, which are difficult to isolate photographically due to the large groups they form.”

In the video competition, Daniel Chong won first prize for his epic entry “A Mountain Film”. Shot in Iceland using a drone, he expertly captured the wide range of landscapes and colours in the middle of summer.

Daniel Chong said, “I had a week in Iceland in July and was blessed with some of the best weather under the midnight sun. I wanted to showcase the range of landscapes from lush greens to the rugged and wild side of Iceland.”
